Robinson Cano has had quite the career in MLB.
He came up in 2005 as one of the New York Yankees’ best prospects, he won the 2009 World Series with them, he signed a huge 10-year, $240 million contract with the Seattle Mariners in late 2013, he got busted for performance-enhancing drugs a couple of times and was suspended, and he is now a minor leaguer in the San Diego Padres system.
His MLB tenure has been eventful, to say the least.
Sami Jarjour, who covers the Mariners, certainly painted a similar picture on Twitter on Sunday.
“Life comes at you fast sometimes. 2013: Robinson Canó signs 10 year $240 million dollar deal with the Seattle Mariners. 2022: 9 years later, Canó is playing in his first minor league game since 2005, excluding rehab assignments, on Spongebob Night for the El Paso Chihuahuas,” he tweeted, with a picture of both situations.

Cano Is Currently Playing Minor League Ball For San Diego
Cano started the 2022 season with the Mets, but was designated for assignment and then released after the team had to cut two roster spots.
He latched on with the Padres, but after struggling with them (he has a .371 OPS with both teams), had to choose between accepting a demotion to Triple-A El Paso or testing free agency.
He didn’t find any worthy offers, so he is now playing in the minor leagues with the hope of getting a more extended chance in MLB.
The second baseman, the owner of an excellent .301/.351/.489 line with 335 homers, 1,261 runs and 1,306 RBI, would be an amazing Hall of Fame candidate five or six years from now if he hadn’t been busted using steroids a couple of times during his career.
