Marcus Smart Shows Off How He Is Relaxing This Offseason

The Boston Celtics had a very long, mostly very successful, season.

They worked hard all year long and definitely deserve some downtime this summer before the next season begins in a few months.

One of the team’s stars, Marcus Smart, is taking that idea to heart but he’s still playing a sport even during his rest.

Smart is down in the Dominican Republic, enjoying the sun and hitting a few golf balls on a gorgeous course.

The guard showed off his skills on Twitter, saying, “R&R in the DR. Think I hit @jaytatum0 back in the states w that drive.”

Smart seems to be enjoying himself and he deserves it.

Playing Smart

Smart’s average during the 2021-22 season was 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.

He took it up a level in the playoffs, when he put up 15.4 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.

Then during the Finals against the Golden State Warriors, Smart was good for 15.1 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 5 assists.

That concluded a very busy and impressive season for Smart, who won Defensive Player of the Year despite only being 6-foot-3 and playing against the toughest players in the world.

Smart can be inconsistent at times and sometimes takes some bone-headed shots but no one can deny he can also come in clutch when his team needs him most.

They’ll need him a lot next season.

The Celtics have added a few choice players in the offseason but are mostly remaining the same in hopes of simply building upon the success they had last year.

Whatever success they find will partly be due to Smart and his dedication to the game and his one-of-a-kind defense.
