Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics has been all over these NBA Finals.

The Defensive Player of the Year hasn’t always been perfect during the series but he’s certainly had an impact at times and has been fearless when going against the Golden State Warriors.

And he’s done it all with his characteristic attitude, personality, and bright hair style.

Smart has been rocking the green locks since the postseason began and he revealed the touching reason why.

The player expressed how his mother loved the way he would fashion and color his hair during games and always mentioned that she wanted to see her son with green hair.

Sadly, she passed away back in 2018 after battling cancer.

In order to respect his late mother, Smart decided to make his hair green for this year’s playoffs.

It’s a touching, loving tribute to his mom and it seems to have added fire in his belly and a drive to make his mom – and the fans – proud.

Playing Smart

Smart has been putting up 16.4 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 4.2 assists a game during the Finals.

Additionally, he has grabbed a team-high 1.4 steals a game.

For the season, Smart has averaged 12.1 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 5.9 assists.

The man has had his sights set on the Finals all year long, waiting to get into the biggest series of the year and help his team win a ring.

Smart has always been the sort of player to perform with serious drive and grit.

That’s what makes him so valuable to the Celtics – and so scary to opponents.

With the series moving back to Boston on Thursday night, you can expect Smart will be even more engaged than ever before.
