The San Diego Padres must have taken David Ortiz‘s message to heart after their Game 1 loss.
Ortiz had said that the Padres would need to do something different if they wanted to beat the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Fast forward one night later, and Ortiz picks the Dodgers to win Game 2 of the NLDS.
Ultimately, Ortiz was wrong about Game 2, as the Padres prevailed in a slugfest to even the series.
Manny Machado apparently caught wind of Ortiz’s Game 2 prediction, and after the game was over Machado sent Big Papi a text saying, “Now what?”
Ortiz read the text on the postgame show to his fellow analysts.
Big Papi picked the Dodgers to win, so Manny Machado texted him after the game saying "Now what?" 🤣 pic.twitter.com/9T9bNhDgPA

Machado Proves Big Papi Wrong
Clearly, Machado and the Padres took Ortiz’s Game 2 prediction to heart as well.
Facing Clayton Kershaw, the odds appeared to be stacked against them after they had lost Game 1.
But Machado and Jake Cronenworth led the way as the Padres knotted the series up for their first NLDS win since 2006.
And so, after the game, Machado made sure to give Ortiz some grief over his incorrect prediction for Game 2 of the series.
You definitely don’t want to get on Machado’s bad side.
But this is a nice, good-natured exchange between him and Ortiz after the game.
In the end, Machado and the Padres got the last laugh.
Now, the series shifts over to San Diego tied at one game apiece with a 2-1 series lead on the line as Blake Snell and Tony Gonsolin toe the rubber.
Game 3 will get underway at 8:37 p.m. ET on Friday night at Petco Park.
We’ll see if Ortiz is more careful about who he predicts to win the game, so as not to get any grief from Machado.
