There was practically nothing to be happy about with the performance of the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday night.
In yet another humiliating moment for the former champs, the team fell at home 123-95 to the New Orleans Pelicans.
This was perhaps the most pathetic and painful performance of the team yet and was the straw that broke the camel’s back for many fans who have been sticking it out through thick and thin.
Thankfully, there was at least one moment to be happy about, courtesy of young Lakers player Malik Monk.

Monk showcased a monster block early in the game, lifting himself to the heavens to stop New Orleans from sinking an easy bucket.
Monk has been a strong defensive component to the team but it’s not often you see him create a play like this.
It was commendable and fantastic to watch.
Sadly, it was the lone highlight of Monk’s – and the team’s – night.
Bad Night In LA
Although Monk should be very proud of that block, he should be shaking his head at the rest of his stat line from Sunday.
Monk ended the game with zero points, one assist, and that single block.
In other words, aside from the aforementioned play, Monk wasn’t doing much for the team.
He’s actually been struggling lately and his output has paled in comparison to what he was doing earlier in the season.
However, the entire team has been suffering so Monk isn’t alone.
Additionally, there is no doubt that he’s one of the few bright spots for the team this year and the Lakers should do whatever they must to keep him around as they attempt to build a team that can hopefully be good again within a couple of seasons.
