It was a terrific NBA regular season for many teams – but definitely not the Los Angeles Lakers and New York Knicks.
These two teams suffered greatly and both ended their seasons in 11th place.
The Lakers and Knicks used to be some of the best teams in the league.
In fact, LA won their latest championship just a few years ago.
The two big market teams that need to improve are the Lakers and the Knicks.

Magic Johnson was on Twitter talking about the offseason on Monday and made this obvious statement: “The two big market teams that need to improve are the Lakers and the Knicks.”
That’s a no-brainer but which team has the better chance of actually making the right improvements?
Stepping It Up In The Offseason
The playoffs aren’t even over and the media is already talking about upcoming changes for the Lakers and Knicks.
LA has already gotten a head start on shaking things up by firing head coach Frank Vogel just moments after their elimination from the playoffs.
The hunt is on for a new coach with multiple names being tossed around.
However, there are other changes that will likely come – including possibly trading Russell Westbrook away.
As for the Knicks, a lot of transformation could happen to them too.
Head coach Tom Thibodeau shouldn’t be feeling too comfortable right now and even some of the team’s biggest stars – such as Julius Randle – could be on the chopping block.
Both the Lakers and the Knicks did poorly this year and their problems surprised many.
Last summer, the Lakers made a blockbuster trade to acquire Westbrook, a move that was supposed to take them back to the top.
As for the Knicks, they were in much better shape last year and actually ended the season in fourth place in the East.
But times have changed and the road has become rough for these two teams.
Johnson is right: improvements are definitely needed.
