He’s been a star for a while now but Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies made quite the impact on Tuesday night.

He had an amazing game and helped his team secure a 106-101 victory over the Golden State Warriors.

That win was essential and avoided a 2-0 hole.

The Grizzlies move into Game 3 with a tied series, 1-1.

In other words, any team could still win this thing.

It wasn’t just Memphis fans that were wild about Morant’s playing – one of the biggest names in NBA history took note.

We just witnessed the most exciting player in the NBA!! Ja Morant put up 47 points to lead his team over the Warriors and tie the series 1-1.

Following the explosive performance, Magic Johnson exclaimed on Twitter, “We just witnessed the most exciting player in the NBA!! Ja Morant put up 47 points to lead his team over the Warriors and tie the series 1-1.”

Is Johnson right and is Morant the most exciting player in the league?

Most Improved Morant

Morant just won this season’s Most Improved Player Award, a huge honor that shows the entire league has taken note of his talent.

But that doesn’t mean he hasn’t been great since his first game: he’s been phenomenal since entering the league.

There’s a reason he was also named the 2019 Rookie of the Year as well and was part of the All-Rookie Team.

However, he certainly has gotten better.

In the 2021-22 season, he put up 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.7 assists.

Meanwhile, his career-average is 21.2 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 7.1 assists, which means he’s mostly stepped up in every aspect of his game.

As for the excitement around his game, Johnson is right: few players are as exciting as Morant.

You see it when he races around the court, sinks wild threes, and even completes jaw-dropping blocks.

If he keeps playing as he has been, we might be in for several more weeks of excitement.
