Luka Doncic of the Dallas Mavericks is having one of the best seasons of his life.
In fact, in many ways, this is his best season.
Doncic is putting up 33.3 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 8.1 assists a game.
He has broken multiple Mavericks records and has consistently been the best player on his team and one of the most impressive athletes in the league.
This has many people talking about Doncic’s chances of winning his first MVP trophy.
He is clearly in the running for that top trophy.
But while Doncic would love that honor, there is something else he has his sights set on: a championship.

“I’d rather have the championship than MVP,” Doncic said, according to the New York Times.
Just the other day, the latest ESPN straw poll about the league’s MVP came out and Doncic was toward the top of the list.
Nikola Jokic of the Denver Nuggets led the way and currently has the best chance of winning the trophy, even though it would be his third time in a row.
But Doncic is still doing incredible things for his team and stands a chance of finally taking home the honor.
Yet, his team is still far from perfect.
They have been up and down all season long and currently stand as the sixth team in the West.
Dallas recently added Kyrie Irving, who could help them go far in the playoffs.
Because of Irving’s inclusion, there is a chance that Doncic’s number will dip a bit in the weeks ahead, but that’s actually a good thing.
It would show that Irving is carrying more of the load and taking some pressure off Doncic’s shoulders.
That might hurt his chances of winning MVP but could help him and his team reach the Finals.
