The Los Angeles Lakers faced their latest loss on Tuesday night, this time at the hands of the Dallas Mavericks.
The Mavericks have been doing very well lately and now sit at fifth in the Western Conference.
Jason Kidd‘s impact on the team has been evident, as has the work of star player Luka Doncic.
Watching Doncic face off against LeBron James on Tuesday was something special, like watching two titans of the game go toe-to-toe.
When you get right down to it, Doncic’s career is following James’ quite closely.

Bleacher Report has pointed out that Doncic is playing like James in many ways.
In his first 245 games, Doncic had 134 wins, an average of 26.1 points and 8.5 rebounds and 7.9 assists a game, with 121 double-doubles.
For James’ first 245 games, he had 126 wins, an average of 26.5 points and 6.6 rebounds and 6.6 assists a game, with 61 double-doubles.
So in some ways, Doncic is actually surpassing his NBA hero.
Doncic Driving Dallas
Entering the season, Doncic was an odds-on favorite to win MVP.
However, the young star had to work out some kinks, shed some weight, and overcome some injuries.
At this point in the season, he’s in rare form yet again and has been on fire lately.
The competition is tough but his name is once again being tossed around as possible MVP.
Looking at his stats next to James’ shows just how special Doncic really is.
He’s more than a guy who creates multiple highlights every game, he’s a legitimately special basketball player.
There’s every reason to believe that in a few years, he could be talked about in the same ways others speak of James.
He’s securing the wins and now all Doncic needs is his first championship ring.
