Ludacris has shown the world that he can do anything he sets his mind to, whether he wants to act, rap, or even start his own company.
His dedication to success has led him to press himself beyond his limits and achieve things that most people only dream of.
This artist has shown the world that he can be the best at his art forms, being both an award-winning actor and hip-hop artist.
What Is Ludacris’ Net Worth?
Ludacris has a net worth of $25 million, which the American rapper has mostly earned through his music and acting careers.
Ludacris began rapping when he moved from Chicago to Atlanta at the young age of nine years old.
Ludacris fell in love with the city of Atlanta and would later focus most of his efforts on creating a better environment for all the children growing up in the major city.
Even after graduating from high school, Ludacris decided that Georgia was the best place for him to live in and attended Georgia State University to study music management.
While Ludacris was studying, he got to know many of the local rappers at the time.
His music career began when one of these artists, Timbaland, featured Ludacris in one of his songs.
This is what inspired Ludacris to pursue his own rapping career, which would later earn him millions of dollars.
The rapper had been a member of amateur rap groups through high school but knew that he needed more experience and knowledge in order to create the music that he had always dreamed of producing.
Over the years, Ludacris was able to form his own style of Southern rap.
He raps faster and more freely than most other Southern rappers.
The rapper likes to occasionally mix humorous lyrics into many of his songs.
Although he has earned $132 million during his career, he claims that he hit financial struggles in 2014.
However, things swiftly improved from 2014 to 2015 because the actor and rapper made $8 million between all of his creative endeavors at the time.
Ludacris started with his debut label, Incognegro, and has put out many more successful albums.
He even has a tenth album on the way currently.
His Early Music Career
Before Ludacris was a rapper or even went by the name Ludacris, he was once an intern named Christopher Brian Bridges at Hot 107.9.
He later became a DJ at the club, where he went by the name Chris Lova Lova.
The first time he recorded his own rapping was when he was featured on the track Phat Rabbit by Timbaland for his album Tim’s Bio: Life from da Bassment.
The song became a hit track on Timbaland’s album and was enough to inspire Ludacris to create his own album.
One of the first things he had to do was change his stage name.
Ludacris felt that the way he would act on stage or in public was vastly different from the way he was in private, feeling similar to having a split personality.
Ludacris is just a play on words, using his first name and the way he felt, ludicrous.
This habit of using a play on words would continue to the name of his debut album, Incognegro.
When Ludacris signed with Def Jam, he released many of the same songs from his first album to Back for the First Time, simply even a more professional touch.
His songs Southern Hospitality and What’s Your Fantasy were the ones that helped him claim enough fame to continue making albums.
A year after Back for the First Time was released, Ludacris released his third album, Word of Mouf.
During this time, you could find guest tracks from Ludacris all over rap music, from Missy Elliot’s One Minute Man to Lil’ Jon & The East Side Boyz’s Bia Bia.
Ludacris’s fourth album, Chicken -n- Beer, showed just how far Ludacris had come, having guest verses from rappers such as Snoop Dogg.
After this album, Ludacris decided to change his rapping style.
His Later Music Career
Time in the industry and maturing made Ludacris want to change the image he had as a rapper and musician.
That’s exactly what he did with his album, The Red Light District.
Ludacris was able to claim the number one spot on The Billboard Top 200 in 2004.
The album sold 322,000 units in the United States alone.
Although the album was incredibly popular, it still didn’t sell as many units as Chicken -n- Beer did, which sold 430,000 copies in weeks and 2.5 million copies by the time that The Red Light District was released.
Release Therapy followed a similar, mature pattern of song topics as The Red Light District, which made the album incredibly controversial among his fanbase.
Despite its controversy, the album earned a Grammy for Best Rap Album and the leading track from the album won Best Rap Song at the same awards show.
In 2007, Ludacris had managed to earn a total of $16 million from music sales and endorsements.
On July 28th, 2008, Ludacris released Theater of the Mind and took a harder turn than ever before.
Although he had once been known for his jovial, over-the-top raps, Theater of the Mind portrayed an extremely different person from the personality everyone had come to know and love.
The year Theater of the Mind was released, Ludacris made $14 million.
Although he didn’t release any music in 2009, he was able to make $10 million.
The Atlanta rapper’s musical break didn’t last long, and he released Battle of the Sexes in 2010.
Battle of the Sexes was originally meant to be a collaborative album between Ludacris and Shawna, but it became an album filled with female rappers, such as Lil’ Kim and Nicki Minaj.
His last album was Ludaversal, which didn’t do well.
Ludacris In Film
These days, Ludacris is better known for his acting.
His largest role has been Tej Parker from the Fast & Furious film franchise.
His character was first introduced in the second installment of the series in 2003.
While his character may not be in every Fast & Furious movie, he is in 2 Fast 2 Furious, Fast Five, Fast & Furious 6, Furious 7, The Fate of the Furious, and F9: The Fast Saga.
These movies consist of All-Star casts for every movie, including Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, and Tyrese Gibson.
When Ludacris first discovered that the film series would only be 10 or 11 movies long, he thought he was going to be heartbroken by the last movie.
However, he has found himself pleased with the ending of the series because all good things must come to an end.
While the movies were able to help bring in millions of dollars for him, Ludacris has already managed to spread his wings away from his best-known movie series in hopes of creating something even better.
In between and after the Fast & Furious movies, Ludacris could be spotted in a slew of different movies in supporting roles or making cameos.
One of the first supporting roles Ludacris took was DJ Donnie in the 2007 holiday comedy, Fred Claus.
He also played Jim Bravura in Mark Wahlberg’s Max Payne.
In the same year as Max Payne, Ludacris starred in the main role of Julius in Ball Don’t Lie.
In 2010, he managed to make $16 million between all of his acting gigs and endorsements.
Despite appearing in New Year’s Eve in 2011, he made less than he did in 2010 by $4 million.
He made $12 million each year until 2014, when he began to make $8 million each year.
Disturbing The Peace And Soul By Ludacris
Disturbing the Peace is the Atlanta-based Southern Rap recording label that was started by Ludacris, with help from Chaka Zulu and Jeff Dixon.
Ludacris’s original label, Def Jam Records, is the parent company of the label.
On the label’s website, they only boast a few artists to their name.
These rap artists include Shareefa, Shawnna, I-20, Playaz Circle, Field Mob, and Bobby Valentino.
However, the label doesn’t even have all the names it claims to currently have.
More than 50 artists came and went through Disturbing the Peace, which had once been popular during the early 2000s.
It had even put a private strain on the relationship between Ludacris and long-time friend Shawnna.
Luckily, the two rappers have made up and there were rumors of them working on something together in 2019.
Shawnna had almost quit rap music before she decided that she wasn’t done yet, and with the support from her old label-mate, she believes the world isn’t ready for what they’re working on.
In 2012, Ludacris decided to follow in the footsteps of many other musicians at the time and endorse his own high-end headphones.
Soul By Ludacris cost $299.95 at launch and was considered to be one of the best pairs of headphones available at the time.
These headphones boasted a tangle-free audio cable with In-Line Apple controller, hardshell case, cleaning cloth, batteries, a noise-cancelling feature, a gold-plated ⅛-inch to ¼-inch adapter, and gold-plated Airline adapter.
They were the top of the line for 2012 and heavily cushioned, which made them fit a variety of head sizes comfortably.
Anyone who owned these headphones was completely satisfied by the quality, even if the noise-canceling feature would go missing when the batteries would die.
The headphones were discontinued so quickly because there wasn’t a market for them.
Ludacris’s Dive Into The Culinary Arts
Ludacris didn’t feel that the performing arts were enough for him to conquer, so he moved on to culinary arts.
The rapper has a restaurant based on his album, Chicken -n- Beer, and he has his own alcohol.
Chicken + Beer opened in 2016 at the Hartsfield-Jackson Airport and serves a variety of southern comfort food.
The restaurant’s beer selections are all exclusively found in Georgia, in hopes of introducing their patrons to some of the best beer they’ve never heard of.
While the menu does have things such as chicken and waffles or fried chicken sandwiches, Chicken + Beer offers more than just poultry.
They also serve salmon croquette sliders, catfish, and collard greens.
Although airport restaurants have previously had a reputation of being low-quality, Chicken + Beer looked to change this.
Their food is so good that the restaurant has already won multiple awards.
The recipes may not be Ludacris’s personal recipes, but that may be for the better since the rapper apparently can’t cook.
Instead, the recipes come from culinary director Todd Richards and chef de cuisine Gary Caldwell
Chicken + Beer wasn’t even Ludacris’s first restaurant.
He had already opened a Singaporean restaurant called Straits Atlanta that was successfully around for about five years.
However, Ludacris closed the restaurant to focus on Chicken + Beer.
Before Chicken + Beer or Straits Atlanta, Ludacris began distilling his own cognac.
The brewery is located in Cognac, France and is distilled by Master Blender Phillippe B. Tiffon.
Ludacris released Conjure Cognac in 2009 and the drink was held in high regard.
When most celebrities begin selling an alcoholic drink, they’re really just endorsing the product.
Ludacris wanted to make sure that the drink was up to his standards, so he was heavily involved in the blending process.
Karma’s World
Karma’s World is the Netflix original show that is produced, directed, and created by Ludacris after he was inspired by his oldest daughter.
From earlier on, Karma told her father that she wanted to be a rapper and entertainer like him, and Ludacris was more than willing to help her grow and achieve her dreams.
The show hopes to inspire children to follow their dreams and do everything in their power to make it a reality.
Karma’s World follows the coming-of-age story of Karma Grant, who is looking to find her voice and inspire positive change in the world around her.
Ludacris has been developing this project for 10 years, and his daughter is now 20 years old.
So far, this project is looking to be even bigger than just a television show.
There was talk of creating books surrounding the show with Scholastic and potential dolls made by Mattel, which is the company that creates the Barbie dolls.
The diverse range of characters with different characteristics and hair types may need Mattel’s watchful eye.
The show is animated with a detailed 3D art style that still manages to be bright and cartoon-like.
The show is partially inspired by Doc McStuffins, which is made by the same media group as Karma’s World.
Ludacris Foundation
The Ludacris Foundation was started by Ludacris and his mother, Roberta Shields, in order to help the children of Atlanta achieve their dreams by promoting positive leadership, healthy lifestyles, and a solid education.
Over Labor Day Weekend, Ludacris and many of his celebrity friends will join in for different community events such as golf tournaments and bowling competitions.
There is also plenty of music, food, and other forms of entertainment.
One year, Ludacris’s mother led an exercise session for one of the local high schools and Usher even showed up for the weekend event.
Other rappers and entertainers such as Chris Tucker, Big K.R.I.T. Gabrielle Union, and Dwyane Wade.
At Clark Atlanta University, the foundation holds a block party with live music from local up-and-coming artists.
Ludacris also holds a brunch for himself, a few of his rapper friends, and 50 local students about how to overcome mistakes and be the best leaders they can be for their community.
The foundation also holds a celebrity basketball game with teams made up of entertainers and NBA players at the Georgia State Sports Arena.
Onlookers are often surprised when some of their favorite rappers or comedians are able to keep up with the NBA players, which makes for an excellent fundraising tool.
Ludacris does everything in his power to give back to the city that helped make him who he is today.
He wants to create more opportunities for young artists and the leaders of tomorrow.
Atlanta is a city filled with bubbling new talent and plenty of opportunities to share that talent.
It was its inviting nature that made Ludacris call the city home, despite growing up across the country.
Ludacris has proven to the city of Atlanta that as he rises, he’s bringing his adopted hometown with him to an even greater future.
