3 Looming Questions For The Rams Heading Into Camp

As defending Super Bowl champions, the Los Angeles Rams come into 2022 with high expectations.

They spent over half-a-billion on player contracts during the offseason, extending Matthew Stafford, Aaron Donald, and Cooper Kupp.

However, they also spent money landing free agents Bobby Wagner and Allen Robinson.

With everything they’ve done, you’d think there would be no questions to be asked about the Rams.

But there are three looming questions for the defending Super Bowl champs heading into camp.

3. Can The Rams Repeat As Champions?

This is the first question that’s on every NFL fan’s mind with the Rams.

With the last repeat champions coming in 2004, it’s been a long time since the NFL has seen a repeat winner of the Super Bowl.

So can the Rams repeat as champions in 2022?

Some people feel they can, as they still have a super team of players on offense and defense.

While some felt the Rams could do this right after they won last season, others just now jumped on after the players the Rams added this season.

They have all the tools to make a repeat run at the Super Bowl this season, meaning they can easily check off that box this season.

However, Stafford needs to improve a little to give them that repeat dream in Los Angeles.

2. Does Bobby Wagner Still Have What It Takes To Be An Elite Linebacker?

Bobby Wagner spent a decade in Seattle as a dominant force on their defense.

However, the team felt he was too old and didn’t have what it takes to still be a force on defense.

But the Rams still believe in him, as they gave him a five-year, $50 million deal, which could turn into $65 million for him.

With a contract length of five years, the Rams clearly feel he’s got a lot left in the tank.

While Wagner is 32 years old, he showed last season he’s still elite.

The 2021 season saw Wagner record a career-high 170 combined tackles while getting one sack and one interception.

He’s showing no signs of slowing down just yet, meaning he still has what it takes to be an elite linebacker for the Rams.

1. Is Matthew Stafford Good Enough To Lead The Rams Again In 2022?

After 12 seasons with the Detroit Lions, and no playoff wins, he made his move to Los Angeles.

In one season, he took the team to the Super Bowl, winning the game in a Tom Brady-like fashion.

However, will he be good enough to lead the Rams back to the promise land yet again?

If you look at the mistakes from the Super Bowl he made, it might worry Rams fans.

But Stafford is a veteran that can learn from his mistakes.

That learning process will be key for him in 2022 if he wants to lead them to another Super Bowl win.

However, if he doesn’t learn from those interceptions he threw,  it could be on the defense to get Los Angeles back to the Super Bowl.

But with Stafford being wise, he’ll easily make the adjustments to lead the Rams back to the big game this season.
