Shaquille O’Neal is perhaps the most dominant physical force in NBA history.
He actually made the league change the backboards so he wouldn’t shatter them, and while he didn’t always go the distance in the playoffs, he was an unstoppable force on both ends of the floor when he was at his best.
However, dealing with all that muscle and weight took a big toll on his body.
He was often hurt, especially later in his career, and wasn’t always in the best shape.
In fact, Kobe Bryant often called him out for his questionable work ethic, claiming that they would’ve won way more rings together if he wasn’t so lazy.
Shaq himself also admitted that he didn’t focus on getting his body ready for the season and that he didn’t use to work out as hard as he could.
That eventually cut his career short, and he might still be dealing with those consequences.
Recently, the basketball community was quite concerned after watching The Big Diesel in a hospital bed.
It was later revealed that he was undergoing a scheduled surgery on his hip, shutting down the alarms and putting his fans at ease.
Now, the four-time NBA champion has shared some inspiring images of his recovery, walking around in crutches and letting everybody know that he’s getting ready to hit the court again — although only for pickup, though.
