Logan Webb is one baseball’s brightest young stars and headlines the starting rotation for the San Francisco Giants.
But the young right-hander is making sure to use his time off the field wisely.
That’s because of a heartbreaking incident that took place a few years ago with his younger cousin.
Webb remembers his cousin fondly, taking note of his smile and happy-go-lucky attitude.
However, tragedy struck when his cousin suddenly passed away after taking what he thought was a pain pill.
As it turns out, the pill was laced with fentanyl.
On Twitter, MLB Players Media posted a video of Webb sharing this harrowing story.

The incident took place just two days prior to Webb’s wedding.
Following the tragic death of his cousin, Webb continued to hear stories about young people ultimately meeting an untimely end due to fentanyl.
According to the CDC, there were 70,000 fentanyl-related deaths in 2021 alone.
Webb expressed his feelings on the matter and stressed the importance of young people understanding the dangers of fentanyl in hopes that nobody else has to experience what he went through with his cousin.
But with the help of a clinical psychologist with the Giants, Webb has made it his mission to visit high schools in the San Francisco area to tell his story and talk about mental health, as well as the risks involved with fentanyl.
Webb says that it’s important for kids to know the risks.
He hopes that his message will spread to a larger audience.
