Annual NFL events have been a part of the American sporting life for years.
Fans devote countless hours to seeing the players their team picked in the NFL Draft.
At the season’s end, everyone tunes in to the Super Bowl.
There are also Thanksgiving games wherein families enjoy football with the traditional feast.
Speaking of that holiday, the Detroit Lions have been a staple attraction during those games, for better or worse.
Aside from that tradition, they will now be a part of another annual attraction for everyone invested in football.

As announced during the NFL’s annual meeting at The Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, the Lions will be the focus of the 19th season of HBO’s “Hard Knocks.”
It will be the first time the NFC North squad will appear on the reality television show and they can’t turn down the invitation, per NFL rules to ensure cooperation with the network.
The Carolina Panthers and the New York Jets were the other two teams who can’t decline an invitation to “Hard Knocks” in 2022.
The program started in 2001 when they featured the Baltimore Ravens a season after they won Super Bowl XXXV.
Since then, the Dallas Cowboys have appeared three times, while the Cincinnati Bengals and the Los Angeles Rams have two editions apiece.
“Hard Knocks” had two seasons in 2021, with the Cowboys being the focus of the offseason version.
Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts became the first team featured in the regular-season edition.
Season 19 will feature on August 9, 2022.
Why HBO Selected The Lions?
Apparently, Dan Campbell‘s allure led the network to choose the Lions.
Despite a 3-13-1 record last season, the head coach kept the team entertaining with his colorful press conferences.
During his introductory news conference, he mentioned that the team will “bite off kneecaps” to keep on fighting in every game.
He also shared his preferred coffee mix and shed a tear for the team’s inability to win games.
