On Friday, the sports world was rocked to its core by one of the greatest NFL players in the history of football, passing away at the age of 87.
Legendary Cleveland Browns running back Jim Brown passed away on Friday, sparking a lot of reactions from other professional athletes, most notably Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James.
Although James tends to stay off social media during the NBA playoffs, the four-time NBA champion felt compelled to take to Instagram to bid farewell to the fellow Cleveland legend.

Brown impacted a lot of people on and off the gridiron, as he made his presence felt off the field as much as he did on it as an activist and an actor.
Clearly, James was inspired by Brown as a kid growing up in Cleveland idolizing the superstar running back, who was the biggest star in the city before the kid from Akron came along more than two decades ago and took the NBA by storm with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
Before James became a household name as a superstar forward for the Cavaliers, he was a multi-sport athlete for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School.
Although James ultimately moved forward with his basketball career, it could be argued that he would’ve been incredibly successful as a football player, as he played wide receiver at a high level.
Even during the NBA lockout, James considered signing with an NFL team to be a tight end until the NBA got back to work, but ultimately he decided against it.
