For months now, the Charlotte Hornets have been certain that their guard LaMelo Ball is the future of the team.
On Thursday night, he once again showed why that is.

During Thursday night’s victory over the Orlando Magic, Ball was part of one of the best alley-oops of the season.
Heading down the court, Ball went between his legs before throwing the pass off the backboard to Montrezl Harrell.
The dunk was triumphant, the crowd went wild, and Ball looked like the star that he is.
Ball Is Balling
Following his play last night, Ball told The Charlotte Observer, “I thought it was a cool play. I seen him coming so I threw it off the glass for real.”
It was just another example of the enthusiastic, youthful energy that he brings to the floor for nearly every game.
The young guard is one of the most promising players in the league and is also capable of creating highlight clips like the one featuring Harrell on Thursday.
But he’s also a solid point-maker too.
This season, Ball has averaged 20 points a game, along with 6.7 rebounds and 7.6 assists too.
With numbers like that, some wonder why the Hornets aren’t doing better.
The team is currently 10th in the East and will be battling it out in the play-in tournament.
Once they acquire a few more solid players and have a deeper bench and a better rotation, Ball will be able to lead them much further into the postseason.
There has been a rumor that Charlotte is interested in perhaps landing Russell Westbrook this summer – is he the missing piece this team needs?
