The Los Angles Lakers ended their season on Sunday night with an overtime victory, 146-141, against the Denver Nuggets.

That would be cause for celebration on any other night but it was very bittersweet on Sunday because it ended a truly horrible season.

Still, there were some highlights worth noting from their victory – including one from newcomer Mac McClung.

In the closing seconds of the game, McClung delivered a monster dunk that shook the rim and got the bench on its feet.

It was probably the best way to end this long, tortured Lakers season.

And it suggests that maybe we will see a lot more of McClung in the future.

Mac Attack

McClung, formerly a G League player, recently signed a two-way contract with the Lakers.

This came on the heels of him being named the G League Rookie of the Year.

There is a lot of potential with McClung and Sunday night’s game showed some of that.

He only put up six points in 22 minutes but he also grabbed three rebounds and a steal and a block too.

He’s obviously playing with speed and enthusiasm and youthful spirit.

All of those features will be needed as the Lakers attempt to put this season behind them and move forward.

One of the highlights of this season was the young players coming into their own on the Lakers.

McClung sits alongside Malik Monk, Austin Reaves, Stanley Johnson, and more – young guys who could become very important parts of the team in the near future.

Hopefully, they can all spend their summers perfecting their games and getting better and better.

If that happens, the Lakers might have more than a fighting chance next year.
