The bad luck for the Brooklyn Nets continued on Thursday night, as they lost 129-125 in an overtime defeat to the Dallas Mavericks.
This left the team with a disappointing 1-4 record, which is definitely not where they wanted to be at this point.
Even though the game resulted in another painful loss, it still had some moments of greatness.

Kyrie Irving was doing his part to keep the team alive and in the game.
During one moment toward the end of the first quarter, Irving dribbled the ball through just about everyone on the Mavericks’ roster and was able to make a bucket at a ridiculously challenging angle.
Irving made it all look easy and it felt like he didn’t even break a sweat as he wove through Dallas on his way to the basket.
Irving has been doing wonderful work so far this season – yet his team continues to struggle.
Good Night, Bad Loss
Irving notched 39 points, 7 rebounds, and 4 assists on Thursday.
Those are terrific numbers but they weren’t enough to help his team get a much-needed win.
This has happened multiple times so far this season: Irving and Kevin Durant have been scoring more than 30 points and have been mostly on-point and terrific with their execution and shot selection.
Yet, the Nets are still falling to nearly all of their opponents.
These are close losses most of the time, suggesting that the team could pull out a win.
But almost doesn’t count and it doesn’t matter how close these games are: the Nets are continually falling short.
They will need more than Irving and Durant putting up All-Star numbers, they will need stronger defense and better output from everyone else on the roster.
