Even though he left the Cleveland Cavaliers on not-so-good terms, Kyrie Irving wrote his name in franchise history.
He failed to lead the team to the playoffs earlier in his career but was a pivotal player in their championship runs, especially when they were finally able to win the ring in 2016.
Still, some fans haven’t forgotten Kyrie for forcing his way out of the organization, and he’s faced some heckling every time he’s been back at The Q.
Nonetheless, that hasn’t stopped the former first-overall pick from showing his old town some love, as he did on Twitter ahead of the Brooklyn Nets’ showdown with the Cavs:
“Nothing like landing in Believeland, OH,” the often-controversial star tweeted.

Kyrie has often shown love and respect for Cleveland and the fans, often reminiscing about his days there and how they built perhaps the greatest team in franchise history:
“I was drafted here and we had a few good pieces, you might say, and that’s being generous,” the All-Star said. “We were at the bottom and we had to start and work our way up. When [LeBron James] came back in my fourth year after killing it in Miami and doing what he was doing and he came and then [Kevin Love] came and just the ball got rolling really really quickly.”
Nets and Cavs boast two of the most entertaining teams in the league, so the fans will be in for a treat tonight when Kyrie’s back to where it all began.
