You may or may not like the Los Angeles Lakers.
In fact, you may not even be a fan of LeBron James, but regardless of your stance about him, you have to be impressed by what he’s doing.
He’s carrying a team and ranking among the league’s leaders in minutes and points per game at age 38, while most NBA players are out of the league by the time they’re 32.
That’s why Brooklyn Nets star Kyrie Irving had no choice but to tip his hat off to his former teammate, praising the fact that he’s still going strong two decades after entering the NBA as the first-overall pick:
“[The NBA] gave the keys to the whole entire business to an 18-year-old kid, and now he’s 38 years old and he’s still dominating. I don’t think we should be surprised. I think we should congratulate him and celebrate him as much as possible,” Irving said.

James has won and done pretty much everything in the National Basketball Association, even leading the league in assists once.
Now, he’s just a handful of points away from breaking Kareem Abdul-Jabbar‘s record as the league’s all-time leading scorer (38,387 career points), a record that has stood for decades and seemed unlikely to be matched, given Kareem’s remarkable longevity.
Of course, his mediocre record in the NBA Finals will forever be a stain in his otherwise perfect résumé and the reason why some fans still refuse to consider him the greatest player of all time.
But looking for things to take down James at this point in his career is just flat-out pettiness, even if you’ve never been much of a fan of him or his game.
Let’s just enjoy him while we still can, as he may not have all that many years left to play.
