With the lockout behind us, it’s time to get prepared for the 2022 MLB season.
But first, there are still plenty of free agents left on the market who need to find homes for the 2022 regular season.
One of those is Kyle Schwarber, who is a free agent after putting up solid numbers with the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox in 2021.
Schwarber certainly benefits from the addition of the universal DH in the new CBA, meaning that some National League clubs will definitely be in on him.
According to Jon Heyman, Schwarber has a pretty robust market at the moment, and is likely to be highly coveted for any team looking for a DH.
Schwarber is beloved in this market with hitting jobs opening up all over the NL. If anyone asks who the biggest winner was in the CBA it’s undoubtedly Schwarbs! https://t.co/HOSBp5PboT

A Robust Market
Designated hitters are a hot commodity right now, especially with the DH rule coming to the NL.
There are several teams that could use a DH right now.
It’s possible we could see him return to Boston, but there are obviously other teams in on him at the moment.
Could we see a team like the San Francisco Giants make a move for him, given that they’re unlikely to keep Kris Bryant?
Maybe his old team, the Chicago Cubs, will come calling.
There’s still some time for teams to sort out their rosters before Opening Day, but everybody will be in a frenzy trying to do just that, with free agents signing with teams left and right.
Schwarber is certainly a valuable commodity, himself being a DH, and he likely benefits the most from the addition of the universal DH.
Where he will go next remains to be seen, but the market sure plays in his favor at the moment.
