The Philadelphia Phillies are getting contributions from all over their roster this year.
After losing in the World Series last year, some people thought the Phillies had reached their ceiling.
But, the Phillies seem to be even better this year.
The addition of Trea Turner makes their lineup much more dangerous.
Also, they have one of the most unique leadoff hitters in baseball.
That is outfielder Kyle Schwarber.
Most leadoff hitters are good contact hitters and players who can get on base in multiple ways.
Schwarber might just be the worst contact hitter in baseball.
He is batting .197 on the year, which is 136th among all qualified hitters.
But, what makes him valuable is his ability to work walks.
He has 120 walks on the year, which is second to only Juan Soto.
According to SportsRadio94WIP, Schwarber is one RBI away from becoming the 13th player since 1920 with at least 45 home runs, 100 RBI, 120 walks, and 100 runs in a season.
Kyle Schwarber is now one RBI away from becoming the 13th player since 1920 with at least:
▪️45 HR
▪️100 RBIs
▪️120 walks
▪️100 runsOnly three other Phillies have ever done this: Schmidt, Thome, Howard.
Historic. 🔥

Schwarber is looking to join a list with three other Phillies greats.
Mike Schmidt, Ryan Howard, and Jim Thome.
All things considered, Schwarber is one of the most productive hitters in baseball.
His on-base percentage is .345 on the season.
Given he is batting .197, that is an elite OBP.
Since he bats leadoff he does not get as many RBI opportunities as other players.
But, he will still drive in over 100 this year.
While Schwarber may no longer provide much in the outfield, he is still one of the most productive offensive players in baseball.
