The Philadelphia Phillies appear to be ready to make some noise in the National League East in 2022.
They already have signed relievers Jeurys Familia and Brad Hand to one-year deals, but they’re not done yet and are ready to give the New York Mets and Atlanta Braves a run for their money.
This morning, the Phillies and Kyle Schwarber came to terms on a deal.
The terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed at the moment, but Schwarber is headed to the city of brotherly love, where Bryce Harper gets his wish of the Phils adding a big bat to their lineup.

A Solid Pickup
The Phillies have struggled over the past two years, and their window to win appeared to have been stuck.
But now, they look like they can challenge the Braves and the Mets.
Adding Schwarber to a lineup that consists of Harper, Didi Gregorius, JT Realmuto, and Rhys Hoskins makes them look scary.
This almost certainly takes the Phils out of the running for Kris Bryant.
But Schwarber is a perfect guy to put in the DH spot, and if you’re manager Joe Girardi, you can look to give him some games in the outfield and at first base on occasion, if Harper and Hoskins ever need a break from the field.
Schwarber is a solid pickup for the Phillies, and another solid lefty bat to add to the lineup.
It’s also worth noting that Schwarber isn’t exactly going into uncharted territory in the NL East, having spent part of last season with the Washington Nationals before being traded to the Boston Red Sox.
The Phillies now look like a solid dark horse contender and we’ll see if they can compete with the Mets and Braves.
