When Kristaps Porzingis was signed to the Washington Wizards, most people wondered what version of the player they’d get.
They didn’t know if he’d be the unicorn that he was for the New York Knicks or the lacking injury-prone athlete they saw with the Dallas Mavericks.
Porzingis knew he had a lot to prove.
He got off to a slow start with the Wizards last season but he’s back and playing excellent basketball again.

Porzingis certainly doesn’t look weak and fatigued from injuries anymore.
On Sunday night, he smashed down a great dunk with authority and power.
This helped lead the Wizards to a victory over the 9-5 Memphis Grizzlies.
Porzingis has been the best player on his team for multiple games now and looks fired up and ready to play hard each and every game.
Porzingis’ Power
For the 2022-23 season, Porzingis is averaging 20.5 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 2.4 assists.
His field goal percentage has taken a step up to 48.9% and his three-point average is no 38.7% too.
This is leading to plays like the one we saw on Sunday and is making him appear like the player so many Knicks fans fell in love with a few seasons ago.
Some people were afraid that Porzingis would never be a consistently dominant force in the league.
He had too many injuries and they were holding him back, people feared.
We don’t know what the rest of this season and the future holds but Porzingis has seemingly taken a time machine back to a few years ago.
Partly powered by him, the Wizards are now 5th in the East with an 8-6 record.
A lot of people had written the Wizards off – but Porzingis obviously wasn’t one of them.
