There have been a lot of disappointing teams in the NBA this year but few have been as disheartening as the New York Knicks.
The team is currently 11th in the East with a record of 34-43.
It’s true that they’ve won four in a row lately but unless something miraculous happens, their season will end when the play-in tournament begins in a few weeks.
But head coach Tom Thibodeau isn’t giving up – and he doesn’t want his team to either.

Speaking to the press on Monday night, Thibodeau said, “You’re never eliminated until you’re eliminated. I don’t want a quitting spirit in our team.”
His team definitely seems a bit more driven recently and is seemingly coming together but it’s too little, too late.
It’s great that their head coach wants them to keep fighting – hopefully, that energy carries over into the next season.
No More New York
Hopes for the Knicks were high when this season began.
That’s because the team ended last year in fourth place and also had one of the most talented players in the league, Julius Randle.
This year, the entire team looked radically different.
Randle has been struggling and the team has been a complete mess.
Part of the problem has to do with Thibodeau himself, who seemed to not know how to lead the team and couldn’t stick with a consistent lineup.
The team looked like it was trying to figure itself out all season long.
They are playing better now and that’s very encouraging but it comes after months and months of struggling and digging a very deep hole.
The Knicks should treat the next few weeks like the preseason and use them as opportunities to figure themselves out even more so next season will be better.
