Nothing last forever, especially in the National Basketball Association.
The New York Knicks entered Tuesday night’s slate as the hottest team in the league, riding a nine-game winning streak that included some impressive victories over contenders.
They were up at home against the struggling Charlotte Hornets, so it was a bit of a surprise to see them losing that game and having their winning streak snapped by a tanking team.
Of course, it’s also normal to see that a team has a bit of a letdown after such a demanding stretch, especially following a thrilling and draining double-overtime game vs. the Boston Celtics.
The Knicks were quite flat in the second half and were outscored by 23 points en route to a seven-point loss, so some started talking about fatigue and how it could be a factor for this team going forward.
That’s why Josh Hart wanted to clear the air on that situation, stating that they’re not fatigued and putting things into context with a rather humble take on who actually gets to be tired.
“I don’t think we can blame this on fatigue,” Hart said. “It’s a reality. But the reality also is our job is to play basketball. You got people getting up at 6 a.m. doing 12-hour shifts. Those guys are tired. For us, we’re playing a game. And obviously, we’re fortunate to play a game like this, but we have to keep that in perspective.”
Josh Hart isn't using fatigue as an excuse for the Knicks' loss tonight:

Hart certainly put things in perspective right there, but it’s not like NBA players can’t afford to be tired as well.
Enduring an 82-game season, plus all the traveling, practices, film sessions, and whatnot, is also quite demanding.
But this is the NBA, and anyone can have a great game on any given night, so there’s no such thing as a scheduled win and it doesn’t matter if you’re facing a struggling team without it’s best player.
