By the end of last season, it was clear that the New York Knicks had to do something big to change their fate but it wasn’t clear what.
As the offseason approached, they decided their best chance of success was with Jalen Brunson, who was at that time playing alongside Luka Doncic with the Dallas Mavericks.
When the Knicks offered a massive, luxurious deal to the Brunson, some fans weren’t sure that it was the right move.
Now it’s very clear that it was.
Twitter fan account KnicksMuse is again praising the move to add Brunson, saying, “The Knicks signing Jalen Brunson instead of trading 3 first round picks for Dejounte Murray was an ELITE move by this Knicks front office.”

Although Brunson has missed a few games recently, he is easily the best addition to the team in years.
He is averaging 23.8 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game on 48.7% from the field and 41.4% from the three-point line.
Nearly all of his numbers have improved since his last year with Dallas and, in many ways, he has become the new face of the Knicks.
He plays expertly alongside other talents like Julius Randle and RJ Barrett, who are also having great seasons, partly because of their camaraderie with Brunson.
The Knicks had many options last year.
They could have bargained hard for Murray or someone like him.
But they instead figured that Brunson was the right approach to take – and that is proving to be a wonderful move that is making both players and fans very happy.
Brunson has come into his own, accepted his role with vigor, and turned into a crucial part of this team.
