The Minnesota Vikings have not had a good start to the season.
After winning 13 games last year and winning the NFC North, the Vikings expected another strong year.
But they start the year 0-2 with both losses coming by one score.
The Vikings realized their offense needed more juice outside of Justin Jefferson, so they went out and traded for Los Angeles Rams running back Cam Akers.
Akers and Alexander Mattison will now lead the backfield in Minnesota.
But Mattison will be the lead back for at least one more week.
According to Vikings Head Coach Kevin O’Connell, “It’s a little too soon to ask him to go this week.”

Akers was traded earlier in the week so it makes sense for the Vikings to give him some time to learn the offense.
Mattison is more than capable of playing the lead-back role for another week.
The Vikings are in desperate need of a win on Sunday.
Minnesota hosts the Los Angeles Chargers in a battle of 0-2 teams.
Starting the year 0-3 is not a recipe for making the playoffs.
That is why this is already a must-win game in the first month of the year.
You can bet this will be a high-scoring game led by two good passing offenses.
It will be interesting to see if the Vikings can get anything out of their run game this week.
That could be the determining factor in how much success they have on Sunday.
