The Dallas Mavericks recently unveiled Dirk Nowitzki‘s statue outside of the American Airlines Center.
Dirk earned the ultimate honor after spending his entire 21-year career with the Mavs, leading them to their only two NBA Finals appearances and winning one NBA championship.
But as much as Dirk had to work to get his figure immortalized outside of the arena, it seems like there’s another young man who’s a lock to have his statue outside of the stadium already.
At least, that’s what Kevin Garnett seems to say:
“It’ll be another statue in Dallas… Luka is like that!” Garnet tweeted.

This isn’t far-fetched at all.
It seems like the only thing preventing Doncic from breaking all of Dirk’s records with the Mavs is free agency or a big trade.
Even Dirk has been in awe of Doncic’s game, poise, and development:
“Usually guys come in, and they are raw and develop, and with experience and hard work they just take that next level,” Nowitzki said of the youngster. “But to me, the way he already reads the game and makes decisions, off the pick-and-roll, when to pass and when to shoot. He is already playing like a 30-year-old. I have been super impressed. From day one, he came in just reading the game, his basketball IQ is just on another level.”
As great as Nowitzki was, it seems like Luka Doncic has every tool to become the greatest international player in NBA history.
And, who knows? Maybe even the best player to ever do it.
