No NBA team has been under most scrutiny than the Brooklyn Nets.
It’s been a wild ride since they signed Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving, and it seems like all the off-court drama will always stand on their way to success.
From KD’s trade request to Irving’s off-court antics to Ben Simmons‘ lack of availability, there’s always a story with the Nets.
But it seems like they’ve finally turned the corner and focused on what actually matters, which is the game of basketball.
That’s why Kevin Durant wanted to address that situation after winning their ninth game in a row, letting the media and the fans know that basketball is all they care about:
“To be honest, I think we’ve always been about ball,” Durant said after the game. “No disrespect to what you guys (the media) do, I just think the outside noise from the media and the fans just make it seem like we don’t care about the game or we are not focused on the task ahead. We’ve always been that way. It’s the fact that you don’t have much to talk about outside of the game, so that’s not adding to the discussion around our team.”

Of course, it’s hard not to focus on all the outside noise, given how often they make the news for non-hoops news.
But there’s no denying that this team has the potential to be one of the best in this beautiful game’s history.
So, as a fan of this game, let’s hope they keep this up and focus on hooping and hooping alone.
