Kevin Durant and the Brooklyn Nets came painfully close to beating the Dallas Mavericks on Monday night.
The Nets desperately needed the win because they have been struggling all season long.
A victory on Monday night was within reach as the game came to a close.
The Mavericks were up by three points and Durant got fouled on a three-point attempt.
Durant, who had made his previous 62 free throws, stepped to the line and made his first.
And then he missed his second shot.
KD on his missed FT at the end of regulation. He made his previous 62 FTS.
"I got to make that. That's the game. We'd probably still be playing right now. F**k…It sucks. I tell the guys all the time, they free. They free."

After throwing away his last shot in hopes of his team grabbing the rebound, Durant and his Nets ended up losing to the Mavericks.
The entire thing was hard for Durant, who opened up about it after the game.
He told the press, “I got to make that. That’s the game. We’d probably still be playing right now. F–k, it sucks. I tell the guys all the time: they free. They free.”
Durant is obviously being very hard on himself but you can’t really blame him because he has been tasked with carrying this rough, ragtag team.
Kevin Coming Up Clutch
It isn’t easy being Durant these days.
His team is performing far, far worse than expected and they are in 11th place with a 4-7 record.
Ben Simmons is inconsistent, Seth Curry has been out all season long, and Kyrie Irving might not ever return to the team.
Durant’s shoulders are heavy with the weight of the entire team and it’s just too much for one man.
Something major will have to change with this team if they hope to make the playoffs.
Durant has been wonderful so far this season but it hasn’t been enough.
He needs help.
