The Thunder was rumbling loudly on Tuesday night, and it’s all thanks to rookie player Chet Holmgren.
Holmgren was front and center as the Oklahoma City Thunder took down the Utah Jazz, 98-77, in the NBA Summer League.
The number two pick in the draft set a new Summer League record with six blocks.
He also racked up 23 points too.
Yes, Holmgren made a huge impression because of his work – and because of his shoes too.
I see u cookin 7. First day on the job was a success, love the kicks @ChetHolmgren https://t.co/sQrgDpPCU0

He took to the court wearing KD 15s while wearing Kevin Durant‘s number.
Durant took note of that, commenting on Twitter, “I see u cookin 7. First day on the job was a success, love the kicks @ChetHolmgren.”
If Holmgren becomes the hottest new thing in the NBA, he will owe a thing or two to Durant.
Following In His Footsteps
Holmgren isn’t built like a typical NBA star.
Yes, he’s tall but he’s also razor-thin and that doesn’t always make for the best basketball players.
In many ways, he actually looks a lot like Durant – so he’s smart to admire him and attempt to play like him.
He will have to put in a lot of work to perform like Durant but Holmgren is already showing how seriously he takes the game.
The young man came out swinging on Tuesday night and he’s got many Thunder fans beside themselves.
They imagine a season with Holmgren and the rest of the young Thunder team really coming together to make something exciting.
Some even think they could be playoff bound because of the squad assembled.
It might be too soon for that but there is no doubt that Holmgren has come to play – and NBA stars are already noticing.
