The Los Angeles Lakers have ended their season early and are officially eliminated from the playoffs.

This is the second time it’s happened while LeBron James was on the team and only the fourth time in James’ career, the first two times being when he just entered the league.

It’s a huge embarrassment for the team and legitimately shocking when you think of all the assets the squad has.

All of this has left people shaking their heads.

This Lakers team not making the playoffs is one the Biggest Disappointments in NBA HISTORY!!! It’s one thing to underachieve in the Playoffs but to not make it at all is RIDICULOUS. Carry on….

Former NBA player and current analyst Kendrick Perkins had a few choice words for LA after their loss on Tuesday night.

He tweeted: “This Lakers team not making the playoffs is one of the Biggest Disappointments in NBA HISTORY!!! It’s one thing to underachieve in the Playoffs but to not make it at all is RIDICULOUS. Carry on….”

Perkins’ words are harsh but the Lakers better be prepared for much more.

Soul Searching

Now that this long, painful, embarrassing season is over, the Lakers can focus on making sure nothing like this ever happens again.

That will require a deep dive into what went wrong and an intense examination of what needs to be changed.

You can bet that there will be some huge shakeups within the organization, like the firing of head coach Frank Vogel and likely trades involving multiple players.

Through all of that, they can expect many think pieces and pointed headlines critiquing the team.

They are about to be dragged again and again by the media and by fans throughout the league.

The 2021-22 Lakers will forever go down as one of the worst in team history.

They better just get used to that.
