All eyes were on the NBA Summer League this year.
This was mostly because there were quite a few great up-and-coming rookies participating in the games, such as number one draft pick Paolo Banchero, and Chet Holmgren.
But neither of those guys ended up being the most valuable player in the league.
Sacramento Kings forward Keegan Murray has been named the Most Valuable Player of NBA 2K23 Summer League 2022.
Murray averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.3 steals while shooting 50.0% from the field and 40.0% from three-point range in four games in Las Vegas. pic.twitter.com/mTuBltv7Eo

The NBA announced the Summer League MVP for 2022 and the honors went to Keegan Murray of the Sacramento Kings.
There is no doubt that the award was well-deserved: Murray averaged 23.3 points, 7.3 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1.3 steals while shooting 50% from the field and 40% from the three-point line during his four games in Vegas.
He’s one to watch and that’s great news for the eternally-ailing Kings.
Keegan The King
Murray was the fourth pick in June’s draft and immediately generated a lot of buzz.
The forward can obviously shoot very well, seemingly from all over the floor, and the Kings feel like he could be key to the quick rebuilding process they’re undertaking.
The Kings need youth, energy, and shooting ability.
When you look at their recent trades, it’s obvious that they’re attempting to become one of the fastest and most efficient teams in the West.
If Murray keeps it up, he will fit into that plan with total ease.
The Kings have have been struggling to make any sort of headway for more than a decade now.
Although it has been said before, they really have more potential now than before.
Of course, there is a chance that none of this pans out like planned but Murray is showing his worth and is ready to burst into his rookie season.
Sacramento fans, say hello to your future.
