Justin Verlander is back in the World Series.
The 39-year-old right-hander has yet to pitch in a World Series game since 2019.
While the Houston Astros won the American League pennant last season, Verlander was nowhere to be found, as he was recovering from Tommy John surgery.
While he will be the Game 1 starter for the Astros, he’ll also be making some unprecedented history.
When he takes the mound, he’ll join former Astros legend Roger Clemens as one of the only two pitchers to have started a World Series game in three different decades.
Clemens obviously was the ace of the Boston Red Sox in 1986, started a World Series game with the New York Yankees in 1999 and a few more in 2000, 2001, and 2003, and started Game 2 of the 2005 World Series with the Astros.

JV Set To Match The Rocket
Verlander made his World Series debut in 2006 with the Detroit Tigers, starting Games 1 and 5 against the St. Louis Cardinals.
He also started Game 1 in 2012 against the San Francisco Giants, Games 2 and 6 of the 2017 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, and Games 2 and 6 in 2019 against the Washington Nationals.
Three years later, Verlander is back on the big stage and is ready to make some history.
The former Cy Young and MVP Award winner has had a regular season to remember, going 18-4 in 28 starts with an MLB-best 1.75 ERA.
Even in his advanced age, Verlander continues to pitch like an ace and is still among the best in all of baseball.
Now, he’s set to join an MLB legend in some historic company.
