Baseball is a game of focus and discipline.
But that doesn’t mean some weird things can’t happen from time to time.
Sometimes, you have to get a little unorthodox.
And sometimes, that pays off.
During yesterday’s game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Philadelphia Phillies, Justin Turner pulled off something rather amazing.
In the bottom of the 10th inning, the Dodgers led the Phils by a score of 3-2.
With J.T. Realmuto on second, a ground ball was hit to Turner, who was unable to record the out at first base.
Freddie Freeman threw to third, where Realmuto had advanced to, and let’s just say Turner pulled off a little trickery.
One Dodgers fan tweeted a video of the moment.
Justin Turner tricks J.T. Realmuto into thinking the ball was thrown down the line for a huge out at third in extras. Honestly? Tricked me. pic.twitter.com/ITWuuemBjm

“Here’s A Little Lesson In Trickery”
This is a pretty devious move by Turner, who totally faked out Realmuto and tricked him into believing Freeman’s throw went down the line.
In the hit HBO Show “Our Flag Means Death,” they call that something special, but we can’t say that here, because this is a family show.
What we can say is that Realmuto was completely and utterly bamboozled.
This was quite a high IQ play by Turner and it’s something you don’t get to see every day.
Baseball has always been a game of discipline, but it can also be a game of trickery.
Realmuto had no idea what hit him by the time he got back to the bag and Turner put the tag on him.
This might just be the smartest and most devious play we have ever seen in baseball history.
It’s like the hidden ball trick but taken to the extreme.
If you’re a Dodgers fan, you’ve got to love every second of Turner’s little prank here.
What a devious little trick he played on one of the best players in all of baseball.
