The nominees for the Roberto Clemente Award have been announced.
Each year, every team has one nominee for the award that is handed out to the player who best represents the game of baseball through charitable means.
The Los Angeles Dodgers nominee is veteran slugger and third baseman Justin Turner.
Turner, 37, has put his time into a variety of charitable efforts.
One of the most prominent is the Justin Turner Foundation, a non-profit organization which he founded with his wife, Kourtney, in 2016.
On Twitter, Turner expressed his gratitude to MLB for nominating him for such a prestigious award, as well as his excitement to represent the Dodgers in such a way.

Turner Earns Clemente Nomination
This is always a great thing for players.
We often forget that athletes are regular people, just like us.
Turner has been a charitable voice in the Los Angeles community for several years and now he has a chance to earn a very important award.
It’s always nice to see players give back to their communities.
Turner has done just that in the Los Angeles community.
His foundation has put on events such as 5K’s, Golf Classics, and marathons.
The foundation’s main mission is to provide resources for children battling life-threatening illnesses, along with helping homeless veterans.
His eight-year tenure with the Dodgers has been about more than becoming one of the game’s best run producers and helping lead the Dodgers to their first World Series title since 1988.
Turner is somebody that people in the Los Angeles community can look towards for help thanks to his charitable efforts.
Voting is underway for the Clemente Award.
The winner will be announced during the postseason.
