Justin Fields Is Already Proving To Be A Great Leader

Something the Chicago Bears have lacked over the past couple seasons is great leadership.

Back in the day, Bears fans could easily find outstanding leaders like Brian Urlacher.

However, since he retired, few players have been influential leaders like he was with Chicago.

But now Chicago is finding a great leader in someone most people wouldn’t expect.

That new leader is second-year quarterback Justin Fields.

So what is Fields doing to make himself a leader for his team?

Fields Is Putting In Work That Should Inspire His Teammates

To become the best player in the NFL, it takes time and the ability to learn your team’s playbook.

Fields is proving to be a player who is putting his time into learning the new offense in Chicago.

Um excuse me, Cam, but how can you suggest we not call Justin Fields a guaranteed HOFer when he is spending his free time looking at plays on a tablet? No one else puts in this level of work. Fields is a first guy in last guy out type.

Bustin Fields? More like Bustin Canton.

His level of dedication to becoming a better player is a skill of a great leader.

It’s also the level of dedication that another legendary quarterback has shown throughout his career.

That quarterback is Tom Brady.

While Fields is far from becoming the next Brady, he possesses some of his best talents.

That first one in, last one out, work ethic can help him improve his play.

It helped the seven-time Super Bowl champion get to where he made it in his career.

However, this isn’t the only exceptional quality that the young quarterback has as the new leader in Chicago.

Fields Is Honest About Where He And His Offense Are Now

Right now, the Bears offense isn’t where most fans want them to be.

They are learning a new playbook and a completely new offensive system.

Also, the Bears are without huge playmakers on offense outside of Fields.

However, the young quarterback isn’t afraid to tell the truth of where he and the offense stand in Chicago.

Justin Fields said a couple times one of biggest things he and others on offense are focusing on is not making the same mistake twice. With a new playbook and so much to learn, Fields offered an honest assessment about how far the unit still has to go before they're game ready.

He knows the team is far off from being game ready.

He’s also holding himself and others accountable for the mistakes being made.

His goal is to fix the team’s mistakes now, rather than later.

This means he’s focused on having his offensive unit primed and ready for Week 1 of the NFL regular season.

However, it’s a tough hill to climb with the teams he will face in 2022.

He Is Showing No Fear During Minicamp

The new offensive leader is showing no fear as he not only calls out issues but also makes great plays during Chicago’s minicamp.

With him pushing his teammates, and himself, to improve, he’s showing leadership skills.

It also shows he doesn’t fear what others might say about him wanting the team to be better before the season starts.

While he still has a lot to learn, he’s showing the qualities of greatness are inside of him.

He possesses what many NFL players can only dream of having.

Those things are talent, fearlessness, honesty, and a great work ethic.

Putting all four qualities together in Fields means he’s got what he needs to be great in Chicago.

However, it is up to ownership to finish surrounding him with players to succeed in Chicago.
