Based on his 2021 output, quarterback Justin Fields still hasn’t convinced Chicago Bears fans that he is the franchise quarterback they’ve been looking for.
There’s much room for improvement from his 58.9 percent completion percentage and from throwing more interceptions than touchdowns.
The Bears’ questionable offensive line did not help him thrive either.
However, the best ones find a way to execute even if things are not going their way.
Therefore, as of writing, he might not be the savior that Bears fans are looking for.
But there’s still time for him to work on his game and dominate with his versatile skill set.
Yet it’s not a sign of confidence that he isn’t ready for the season to start right now.

In a video shared by NFL on CBS, Fields said, “No, I’m not ready for the season to start. I’d like to know that I’m prepared and right now I’m just being honest that we’re not ready to play a game right now.”
This statement came from the same guy who declared the NFL game to be slow during last year’s preseason.
He does have a point that the Bears, or any other team for that matter, isn’t ready.
After all, it takes a while to get back into game shape and that’s what training camp does.
Hard To Be Optimistic With The Bears
Fields could have pumped up the emotions of his teammates by saying that he is ready.
That statement will serve as a battle cry for the team to prepare for the grind.
But even if they prepare, it’s hard to see them going to the playoffs.
Their receiving corps is suspect and their defense is aging.
They may not admit it but the Bears are in a rebuilding phase.
Therefore, they are also not ready to compete aside from playing at all.
