We have said many times in this space that Los Angeles Dodgers ace Julio Urias has been one of the best and most consistent pitchers on his team this year.
However, and examining what he has done over the last two seasons, it’s fair to say that he is an elite pitcher in all MLB.
He has been unfortunate enough to share the same league with a dominating pitcher each year: it was Corbin Burnes last year and Sandy Alcantara in 2022, which is why he will probably end his two-year run without the Cy Young award.
But if we weigh in stats from 2021 and 2022, he has a strong case to be considered the most productive and effective hurler in the National League over that timeframe.
“Julio Urias, 2021-22: 37-10, 2.58 ERA. Next closest in wins: 28 (Adam Wainwright). Next closest in ERA: 2.74 (Sandy Alcantara),” Los Angeles Times’ Bill Shaikin tweeted.

Urias Keeps Racking Up Numbers
Earning 37 wins in two seasons (and he still has one start left to go) is crazy these days, in which starters usually don’t even complete five innings to qualify for the victory.
He won 20 last year and is at 17 in 2022.
But Urias is more than just a handful of wins: his run-prevention skills are top-notch.
His 2.58 ERA over the last two seasons is, by far, the best in baseball.
He is at 2.17 this year, over 170 innings.
He earns wins, pitches a lot, has a low ERA, and even strikes out a lot of batters (162 this year).
Urias may not earn the recognition and credit he deserves, but the Dodgers probably wouldn’t be where they are without him.
He has been a truly elite performer for a couple of seasons now.
