Julio Rodriguez and the Seattle Mariners just cashed in.
The two sides have agreed on a 14-year, $210 million contract extension that could end up actually exceeding $400 million.
Rodriguez, the Rookie of the Year favorite in the American League, is hitting .269 with 20 home runs and 64 RBI and looks to be on his way to claiming that award.
The Mariners have found themselves back in contention and Rodriguez looks to be the man that they’ve chosen to invest in for the future.
In fact, Rodriguez is making some age-related history with this new extension.
At 21 years and 240 days old, Rodriguez is the youngest player in North American Sports history to have signed a contract that guarantees him at least $200 million.

J-Rod Makes History
Rodriguez is soon to be a rich man.
This is a massive deal for such a young player.
But the Mariners appear to believe in him and see him as the guy to usher in a new era of Seattle baseball that includes winning.
This is the guy you want to bank on if you’re the Mariners.
This is the guy you want to build around.
But the fact that he’s getting such a huge deal at such a young age is insane, and it’s good to see the Mariners put their faith in him, despite him not being in the big leagues for a year.
If things shake out the way the Mariners foresee, then Rodriguez will be in Seattle for a long time.
He’ll be the guy that they build their great teams around.
The Mariners clearly have a ton of faith in him and see him as their next marquee player.
