Julio Rodriguez is a lot of fun to watch.
This kid is a special talent who is taking the Seattle Mariners and the rest of the baseball world by storm with his ability to crush baseballs.
He’s also got incredible energy that can light a fire under his team.
Rodriguez was back at it again yesterday as the Mariners attempted to finish off a sweep of the Texas Rangers.
He hit a go-ahead home run in the bottom of the seventh off of Rangers starter Jon Gray, but he apparently did so with a different bat than usual.
After the game, Mariners manager Scott Servais revealed why Rodriguez had a different bat, and that Rodriguez had told him that the other one needs to sleep since it’s a day game.
Ben Verlander tweeted a video of Servais’ interview.
This is great.
Julio Rodriguez took a new bat up to the plate because “The other one is sleeping. It’s a day game.” He immediately hit a 3 run homer.
The kid is a legend.

Bat Nap
It makes sense.
Bats have feelings too.
Rodriguez has to experiment a little bit, doesn’t he?
It seems that that experiment didn’t faze him in the slightest.
He still brought out the lumber and delivered the biggest hit of the afternoon.
But his reasoning for switching bats is hilarious.
Rodriguez is a special kid with great energy and a ton of talent.
He just seems to love playing baseball.
And why wouldn’t he?
He’s on a team that’s winning a ton of games as of late and he’s leading the race for the American League Rookie of the Year Award.
He’s been putting on a show ever since he was called up to the big leagues.
Switching bats didn’t disrupt the show in any way it seems.
Maybe tonight, he’ll bust out the bat that was getting a rest yesterday.
