The trade deadline has come and gone.
The biggest name out on the block, Juan Soto, was dealt to the San Diego Padres after spending the first five seasons of his career as a member of the Washington Nationals.
He and Josh Bell went over to San Diego in exchange for Luke Voit and a haul of prospects.
Being traded always weighs heavy on a player, especially when he’s leaving the only organization he’s ever known.
But on Twitter, Soto made sure to say thank you to the Nationals and their fans, posting a thread of three tweets expressing his gratitude for so many great memories in D.C.
Thank you to the Nationals organization for the opportunity to realize a childhood dream. I am forever grateful to my teammates and coaches, as well as the player development and training staffs. pic.twitter.com/msrTSv48a1

To my Nats Fans: since day one I’ve always had the feeling you would have a special space in my heart but the appreciation that I have for you went over my expectations.
Thank you for being such a great family to me. With Love & Gratitude…Forever Yours,
Juan Soto— Juan José Soto Pacheco (@JuanSoto25_) August 3, 2022
Soto Thanks D.C.
Soto will never forget Washington and all of the great memories that came with being a part of the Nationals.
He was a part of the Nationals’ run to their first World Series title back in 2019.
He was a Rookie of the Year candidate in 2018, a two-time All-Star, a two-time Sliver Slugger, and the most recent Home Run Derby champion.
He certainly has a ton of great memories from his time with the Nationals and it’s nice to see him take the time to thank everybody involved in his journey with the Nationals.
The fans in Washington will never forget Soto either.
He was a major key to bringing their team its first ever World Series win.
He was certainly a fan favorite, and he loved the fans in D.C. as well, feeling their support and love for him since day one.
Saying goodbye is certainly bittersweet for both Soto and the fans.
He’ll always hold Washington and the fans in high regard, and they will certainly miss him.
