The New York Yankees’ 2024 season ended with a World Series loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now they lost one of their best players in free agency to the New York Mets.
Superstar outfielder Juan Soto signed a deal with the Mets worth $765 million over 15 years, which he took over the Yankees offer.
The Yankees will now have to get used to life after Soto, but not signing him has left the team with plenty of money to spend on the other free-agent talent still available.
Soto was seen at a press conference in his new Mets uniform, and he had a message for Yankees fans after his one season with the team.
“I want to say thank you. I actually want to say thank you to them. They really showed me all the love and everything that they have last year,” Soto said via FOX Sports: MLB on ‘X.’

Soto came into the league in 2018 with the Washington Nationals, and he will now play for his fourth team at only 26 years old.
Even though Soto thanked Yankees fans and showed his appreciation for them during the 2024 season, it is likely that Yankees fans are not happy with him.
With six Subway Series games on the schedule for 2025, Yankees fans will get their chance to express their feelings to Soto.
Although the Yankees lost Soto, they still have a talented roster and they will try to win the American League East division for the second straight year for the first time since 2011 and 2012.
