Somehow, someway, Juan Soto of the Washington Nationals is not having a good season.
This is a surprise, given what we all know he is capable of and what he has done over his first five seasons in the big leagues.
He was a Rookie of the Year candidate when he came up in 2018 and has provided a solid presence in the middle of the Nationals’ batting order.
But it just hasn’t been an easy year for the Nats’ slugger in 2022.
StatMuse posted a tweet that showed some of Soto’s stats on the season.
Right now, he’s hitting just .214 and has posted career lows thus far in on-base percentage, slugging percentage, and OPS.
Juan Soto has just 4 hits in his last 31 AB’s.
It’s almost the end of June and Soto is still struggling with a .214 BA, .365 OBP, .435 SLG and .800 OPS — all of which are career lows.

Soto In A Slump
Should the Nationals be concerned?
Maybe a little bit, given that he normally crushes the ball.
But this year, it’s been a different story.
At the same time, he is still Juan Soto and is fully capable of turning things around and becoming the player we all know him to be.
He’s got tremendous power and when he’s right, he’s one of the most consistent hitters in all of baseball.
Even the best in the business will have bad years from time to time.
It shows that they’re human.
But with these struggles, it has to be just a tad concerning for the Nationals.
Remember, they’re either going to sign him long term or trade him away at some point.
If he continues to struggle, it might hurt his trade stock a little bit.
But there’s still a lot of time left.
We all know what Soto can do.
One would think it’s only a matter of time before Soto pulls it together and starts hitting again.
