NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero shared the news that was confirmed by Gordon’s agent, Zac Hiller.
The Titans are looking to upgrade their wide receiver corps after losing A.J. Brown to the Philadelphia Eagles and Julio Jones to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Gordon could join the active roster with Robert Woods, Treylon Burks, Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, Kyle Phillips, Cody Hollister, and Racey McMath if everything goes well.
The Kansas City Chiefs recently released Gordon after a slow preseason.
He failed to make a catch during their preseason game against the Chicago Bears.
Then, he only had one catch for ten yards versus the Washington Commanders.
Gordon did not play in their preseason finale against the Green Bay Packers.
While he has become a fan favorite with the Chiefs, his lack of production did not save him a spot on the active roster.
It didn’t help as well that he only had 32 yards and a touchdown in 12 games last season.
Gordon Getting His Feet Back
In his sophomore year, he was tearing the league apart with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns.
Those numbers earned him the only All-Pro selection in his career.
Unfortunately, his battles with banned substances and performance-enhancing drugs derailed his career.
Eventually, he missed out on three full seasons and played only 11 games from 2014 to 2018.
As a consolation, Gordon won Super Bowl LIII with the Patriots.
As of 2021, Gordon has 252 receptions for 4,284 yards and 21 receptions.
With Gordon joining the Titans practice squad, he could be called up to the active roster for up to three times during the regular season.
