It must have been tough for the Kansas City Chiefs to cut wide receiver Josh Gordon.
After all, he became one of the finest people who donned that uniform in recent years.
However, football reality dictates that players must deliver on the field, no matter how much they are loved by fans.
Sadly, the one-time All-Pro failed to deliver on that end.
Therefore, releasing Gordon is a business decision, especially after having one catch for ten yards the entire preseason.
His stint with the Chiefs last season was also forgettable, with only 32 yards and a touchdown in 12 games.
But he made up for what he lacked in numbers by becoming a better individual.
NFL Network insider Tom Pelissero tweeted, “Gordon has shown great character on the field and in the community since he got to Kansas City, and the team is open to him returning. But it’s a numbers game right now, and he’s the odd man out.”
Meanwhile, Gordon appreciates the opportunity given to him by the two-time Super Bowl champions.
Appreciate all the @Chiefs kingdom has done for me and my family this past year. Thanks for the opportunity and the many memories. 🙏🏾

Gordon To Retire?
It would have been a different story if Gordon played for the Chiefs a decade ago.
Back then, he was tearing the league apart for the Cleveland Browns with 1,646 yards and nine touchdowns in his sophomore year.
Unfortunately, his battles with banned substances and performance-enhancing drugs derailed his career.
Eventually, he missed out on three full seasons and played only 11 games from 2014 to 2018.
At age 31 and with a forgettable stint with the Chiefs, it’s difficult to see Gordon getting another shot anytime soon, especially with the high volume of wide receivers selected in the 2022 draft.
