Jose Altuve Shares The Ultimate Praise For An Astros Teammate

Just a few days ago, the Houston Astros locked up their designated hitter Yordan Alvarez, extending his contract for six years and $115 million.

The new deal will kick in at the start of the 2023 season and will last the Astros’ slugger through the 2028 season.

Alvarez is off to a hot start in 2022, having hit .288 with 16 home runs and 34 RBI.

Ever since his arrival in 2019, Alvarez has been a major centerpiece of the Astros’ powerful lineup.

His teammate Jose Altuve had some high praise.

Altuve referred to Alvarez as the best hitter that he has ever played with, as seen in the tweet below by Astros insider Chandler Rome.

Altuve Praises Yordan

This is some high praise from somebody who has been at this for a long time.

Altuve is the veteran presence on this Astros squad and is really the star of the team.

But for Alvarez to get such high praise from the star of the Astros is really something.

Not many people can say they’ve gotten that much praise from a guy like Altuve.

But it also speaks to the ability of Alvarez when it comes to hitting.

He has quickly turned himself into one of the best hitters in the game of baseball today and is a major centerpiece in Houston’s lineup.

He was a key factor in Houston reaching the World Series in both 2019 and in 2021.

He put up MVP-type numbers in 2021, hitting 33 homers and driving in 104 while hitting .277.

Altuve’s praise is certainly warranted, and it has to feel good for Alvarez to be put on such a high pedestal by one of his teammates, let alone, the guy that has been the building block for the Astros’ rise back to prominence.
