The Washington Nationals may be well out of the postseason picture, but that doesn’t mean that some key young players aren’t making their mark on the team.
One such player is Joey Meneses, who in just 23 games is hitting .348 with six home runs and 11 RBI.
The 30-year-old first baseman has bounced around with several organizations, but appears to have finally found his footing with the Nats.
In addition to some of his already impressive stats, he’s already picked up 29 hits in just his first 23 games.
That is the most hit by any rookie through the first 23 games of their career in Nationals history.

Meneses Making The Most Of His Opportunity
Meneses has been around a while and had yet to break into the big leagues with a team.
Now, as a member of the Nationals, Meneses is tearing it up just 23 games into his career.
Here’s a guy who’s had to scratch and claw for everything his entire baseball career.
He’s been in the minors for a long time.
But now, here he is at the big-league level for the first time at the age of 30.
And he’s wasted no time getting acclimated to the Major Leagues.
He may be early in his career, but he’s hitting like he’s been here a long time.
The Nationals might just have something special with Meneses.
But you have to feel good for him.
Again, he’s had to fight for everything.
Now, at age 30, here he is tearing it up and giving Nationals fans an exciting glimpse into the future.
He’s made some team history in just his first 23 games.
Now, we’ll see if he can keep it up and continue to provide a spark for the youthful Nationals.NEXT: The Nationals Are Starting The Future Now
