It’s safe to say that Joey Gallo‘s start to the 2022 season was quite abysmal.
Through his first 16 games of the season, Gallo had a .146/.255/.167 slash line with no home runs, just one RBI, and a poor .421 OPS.
He was striking out like nobody’s business and providing no spark for the powerful New York Yankees‘ lineup.
But boy, things can change, that’s for sure.
Since then, he appears to have returned to his old self and is hitting like everybody in the league knows he can.
A Yankees stats page tweeted a comparison of Gallo’s numbers through the first 16 games and his numbers over the past 15 games.
In these past 15 games, he has a .268/.388/.634 slash line with five homers, six RBI, and a 1.022 OPS.

Gallo Turning It On
It looks like Gallo is back.
This is who the Yankees thought they were getting when they acquired him from the Texas Rangers at last season’s trade deadline.
Gallo can hit.
That much is clear.
Now, he seems to have put his early struggles behind him and is clicking at just the right time.
There’s no time like the present to turn it on, especially after such a rough start.
Gallo looked like a shell of what he once was, but now, he’s back to being the player we all are so accustomed to seeing.
With a guy like Gallo, it seems as if it was a more a matter of when and not if.
Sometimes, guys start slow, but Gallo picked just the right time to turn it around and show everybody what he truly is capable of: hitting home runs and coming through in the clutch.
He’s been a major key to the Yankees’ red-hot start and will continue to be that if he stays hot.
